COPY EDITING

I enjoy taking a step back and working on somebody else’s story, spotting and hopefully fixing grammatical slips and sorting out muddled sentences.

I have worked as a full-time copy editor at The (Torrington) Register Citizen, Norwalk Citizen-News, and Greenwich Time; and for one week, as a temp, at Martha Stewart Kids magazine on 42nd Street. I also copy edited as a freelancer at the Fairfield County Weekly, (formerly Advocate), New Haven Advocate and Hartford Advocate; and for Hartford Magazine and New Haven Living.

I became familiar with Associated Press style by using it at all the papers, and I have also used The Chicago Manual of Style. I have great affection for my small library of style and reference books, including, additionally, The Elements of Style, Words into Type, The Careful Writer, Webster’s Dictionary of English Usage, and The New York Times Manual of Style and Usage. Not forgetting the dictionary, of course: I use Webster’s Collegiate, 11th Edition.

Please contact me to discuss your copyediting needs. I will do my best to find the answers to all the questions that come up.

WRITING‍
I enjoy investigative journalism, but I have also written features, promotional blurbs and humorous columns and bits. If you need a writer, please consider getting in touch.
